The Bank's online processes are certified under the ISO 27001 information security standard. This accreditation is obtained after a thorough review and documentation of all the processes associated with web services and the components used to deliver them. Bci is the first bank in Latin America to implement an Active-Active data center backup model. This means that for services under this model, both data centers operate simultaneously. So, in the event of an incident affecting one of them, all clients will be seamlessly redirected to the other, ensuring uninterrupted service.

Bci was the first bank to enable the Account Registration feature in its online funds transfer process, significantly enhancing security in this procedure. This feature requires the recipient of a transfer to be previously enrolled and authorized to receive electronic transfers.

Additionally, Bci offers a Virtual Credit Card service, which significantly enhances security when using credit cards online. The service temporarily activates a card number for 24 hours, with a maximum amount set by the customer. This virtual number is used for online purchases, preventing the exposure of the customer’s physical card number.

Since 2012, Bci has implemented the Extended Validation (EV) model, a security system that verifies the legitimacy of the bank's website. Visually, this is indicated by a green browser bar once a secure session is initiated. This confirms that the bank has been validated at the time of issuing the customer's website certificate (a security certificate used for data encryption), ensuring that users are indeed on the bank's network and not on a fraudulent site. Data encryption uses 2,000-bit keys, the highest market standard for this type of service.
